Omek is a black-owned startup founded in 2019. Our mission is to unlock and share the talent, voices, and energy of biculturals of African descent.
Equipped with a global reach, our process is two-fold. First, we create programs and events that make connection and collaboration simple for biculturals of African descent and their allies. Second, we work with partners to bring insight and access to a diverse pool of talent.
We are looking for candidates that understand and live the Omek values, have a track record of success in improving operations, implementing new processes or procedures, and creating an environment for collaboration and innovative thinking. We are building something new, exciting and we truly believe our community has the power to change the world.
The role will split across different areas and will be responsive to needs. You have a high autonomy to shape and drive processes, ensuring organization and quality. You will be collaborating closely with our distributed team. Location is flexible, but working within the Central European timezone is required.
This role is part-time (15 hours per week) for a period of two months starting September 2023. This is a paid, contract position with the possibility of an extension. €40-50/hour depending on experience.
As an Operations Lead, you'll be responsible for and contribute to the following:
Managing projects: You may be responsible for managing projects from start to finish. This could involve working with different teams to ensure that project milestones are met, monitoring progress, having an understanding of overall time/expenses across projects and reporting on project outcomes.
Managing company resources: You will be responsible for overseeing the company's resources, including personnel, accounts and subscriptions. You will need to ensure that these resources are being used effectively to achieve the company's goals.
Implementing and streamlining processes: You will be tasked with identifying areas of improvement and implementing processes to make operations more efficient. Ex: improving community management, optimizing event or partnership procedures.
Fostering a positive company culture: You will play a key role in creating a positive company culture by ensuring that team members are motivated, engaged, and productive. This could involve onboarding new team members, scheduling team check-ins, monthly and end-of-year meetings, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Your role will involve wearing many hats and juggling multiple responsibilities as your work alongside leadership in the company. You will need to be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to think strategically to ensure that the company runs smoothly and efficiently.

Ricki Stevenson, founder of Black Paris Tours, has served as its creative thinker and CEO since its inception in 1998. Stevenson, a native of Oakland, California, is a former TV-news anchor, international travel reporter and talk-show host.
She holds a master’s degree in History from Stanford University, with an emphasis on African and African American studies. Ricki began dreaming of life in Paris at three years old, when her mother, a former professional dancer, took her to see Josephine Baker perform. She was ten when her Mom took her to hear James Baldwin speak in California. Ten years later Ricki found herself interviewing Baldwin for a New York City radio network.
Mme. Stevenson says the idea for Black Paris Tours grew out of her experiences as a United Nations reporter and a travel reporter….always looking for and finding amazing, untold stories of Black history dating back to the beginning of all history!
