Being bicultural is more than living between worlds—it’s learning to navigate them, to bridge cultures, and to shape something new. It’s the search for belonging, the tension of in-between spaces, and the power of embracing all that you are. At Omek, we see biculturalism not as a challenge, but as a unique superpower—a lens through which we lead, create, and build a future where identity is not a limitation, but an advantage.
For Kemo Camara, Omek’s founder, this understanding grew over years of living across Africa, the U.S., and Europe. No matter where he went, he met bicultural individuals full of ambition and talent—yet missing a space to gather, collaborate, and thrive. Through conversations with over 300 members of the African diaspora in 2017 and 2018, one truth became clear: biculturals weren’t looking for a single home. They were looking for a shared space where their identities, experiences, and aspirations were understood.
In 2019, Omek was born out of this vision, launching from an accelerator at Impact Hub Amsterdam. When the world shut down in 2020, Omek expanded, hosting a global online summit with nearly 200 speakers and deepening cross-continental partnerships. By July 2021, we welcomed 500 founding members to our platform. In 2022, we had grown to 1,500 members across 70 countries, hosting over 100 events and collaborating with brands like Adidas, Google, Netflix, and Patagonia.
Today, in a world that is more disconnected and divided Omek is a thriving home for bicultural professionals—offering opportunities to find purpose, grow meaningful connections, and create impact through their work.
