Job Board Lead & Marketing Support
(part time/freelance)

We are looking for an experienced Job Board manager to play a pivotal role fostering a vibrant and inclusive community for our members as we prepare to increase engagement and scale in 2025.

Our mission is to unlock and share the talent, voices, and energy of biculturals of African descent.

What we stand for

Founded in 2019, Omek is a membership-based community connecting biculturals of African descent with each other, with brands, and resources.

Based in Amsterdam with global outreach, our process is two-fold. First, we create programs and events that make connecting and collaborating simple within biculturals of African descent and allies. We then work with partners to bring insight and access to a diverse talent pool, providing the tools for sustained growth.

As we scale, we need a marketing leader to build and manage our job board while promoting it across external channels. You will be responsible for increasing the job board’s visibility, attracting both job seekers and employers, and driving meaningful employment connections.

The ideal candidate has experience managing digital platforms and a passion for community. You’ll manage all aspects of the job board, from technical oversight and content creation to marketing and outreach, with the freedom to optimize processes for efficiency and quality. You’ll collaborate closely with our team.

This part-time freelance role requires working within the Central European time zone. It is for 10 hours per week, starting in January 2025, with a three-month duration and potential for extension.

As a Job Board Lead you'll be responsible for and contribute to the following:

  • Building and optimizing digital platforms: You will be responsible for leading the launch, managing, and continuously improving our job board to ensure a seamless experience for both job seekers and employers. This includes integrating platforms, setting up automations using tools like Zapier, handling APIs, and troubleshooting technical issues throughout the launch phase. After launch you’ll maintain job postings, ensure data accuracy, and resolve any challenges as the platform rolls out. Your goal is to build a user-friendly, engaging platform that becomes a vital resource for our community.

  • Creating compelling content: You’ll lead marketing efforts, including digital campaigns, email, social media, and content creation, to drive traffic and boost engagement. As the role expands you will be working with a marketing agency. You’ll also craft and edit job listings, blog posts, and resources that align with our community's values and needs.

  • Tracking and analyzing performance: You’ll monitor key metrics like job board traffic, user engagement, and marketing campaign performance, using tools such as Google Analytics and social media insights. Based on these insights, you’ll optimize marketing strategies and improve the job board experience for both job seekers and employers.

Preferred skills include

Your role involves multiple responsibilities as you work alongside the team leadership. Your past experiences have taught you how to think strategically and execute efficiently and independently. We are looking for someone who can envision the future and is an absolute doer as well.

  • Strategic thinking and execution: You’ve had previous experience managing projects and can envision long-term success while effectively executing day-to-day tasks. You take initiative and can work independently to get things done.

  • Experience: We’re looking for someone with 2+ years of experience in job board management including digital marketing. Experience in a startup or a community-driven organization is a plus.

  • Communication skills: You communicate clearly and persuasively, whether you’re writing for the job board, engaging with employers, or reporting metrics to leadership. This role requires empathy, listening, and understanding the needs of the community we serve.
